Catch Shakespeare in the Park

One of New York City's most beloved summer traditions is back at the newly renovated Delacorte Theater in Central Park. This year's production of The Winter's Tale has drawn plenty of attention for its fresh interpretation of the classic story, and best of all, tickets are free. The production runs through July 25, 2026 - August 23, 2026, making it one of the most sought-after summer events in the city.

Even if you've never considered yourself a Shakespeare fan, there is something special about spending a summer evening watching live theater under the stars in Central Park.

Spend an Evening at SummerStage

For many New Yorkers, summer does not officially begin until SummerStage starts filling parks across the city with live music. Celebrating its 40th season this year, the festival features more than 80 performances across all five boroughs, including concerts, dance performances, and spoken word events.

The best part is that many of the events are free, making it one of the easiest ways to experience live entertainment throughout the summer.

Don't Forget Governors Island

Governors Island remains one of the best summer escapes without actually leaving New York City. Beyond the food vendors and waterfront views, the island hosts concerts, art exhibits, performances, and community events throughout the season. Whether you're visiting for a festival or simply spending an afternoon biking around the island, it's worth making the trip at least once this summer.
